MYRIAM BARRERO

FOUNDER

Raised in Coconut Grove and a true Miamian at heart, Barerro is a pioneer In her field being a laser technician for over 16 years. She opened her first center for laser hair removal in 1983 transitioning into the laser center of Miami in 1993. In 2014, she partnered with Maggie Avila to expand the esthetic practice at Laser Center of Miami & Spa.

She is a member of the Electrolysis Association of Florida, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and Society for Clinical and Medical Hair Removal. Her facility is also licensed by the Agency for Health Care. She attended Miami Dade College and Florida International University where she also has a degree in Business.

SILVIA PLAZA

Joining our team by way of Colombia, Silvia has a strong background in skin care. She has been in Cosmetology since 2000. She is a registered Esthetician since 2001 and an Electrologist. Beyond being a hair removal specialist, she specializes in microdermabrasion, skin peel and rejuvenation. She attended Florida College of Natural Health and also has a background in business as well.

MAGGIE AVILA

Raised in Miami Beach, FL, Maggie was affiliated with Johnson & Johnson for 15 years before going into the laser industry. She is also a member of the Electrolysis Association of Florida and Society for Clinical and Medical Hair Removal.

JANE RUGA

Jane Ruga is originally from Manhattan, NYC. She relocated to Miami at the age of five and currently resides in Coral Gables, Florida with her two boys. As a young woman having a passion for beauty and enhancement, she chose a carrier in Laser Hair Removal. Upon graduating, she joined Laser Center of Miami & Spa and has over five years of experience. She is currently licensed by The Agency for Health Care and is a member of the Society of Clinical Medical & Hair Removal and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery..

Damaris Mafut, M.D.

Medical Doctor

Dr. Mafut was born in Cuba and raised in Miami. She graduated from Miami Coral Park High School and then went on to attend the University of Miami, where she earned a degree in Microbiology and Immunology with minors in Chemistry, Psychology, and French. Following her lifelong dream of becoming a physician, Dr. Mafut then enrolled at NOVA Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. After graduating she moved to Jacksonville, Florida to complete her Pediatric residency at the University Of Florida Shands Hospital. She returned to Florida in 2012 after working for 2 years in Dallas, Texas, to continue working in her hometown of Miami. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics. She has been in private practice since 2017. She enjoys gardening, reading for pleasure, travel and many outdoor activities with her family.

KATIA ALVAREZ

Born in Cuba, she moved to Spain at 12 years old, where she started being interested in fashion and beauty. She moved to Miami to accomplish her studies. She was managing a Spa when she became very interested in face and body. After raising her daughter for 12 years, she decided to come back to the field, where she was introduced to the wonderful world of Coolsculpting. After graduating from Coolsculpting University, she began her career. This would be the enhancement treatment that became her passion. Her favorite part of her job is helping people feel good about themselves, inspiring them to live healthier lives, and making them feel comfortable in their own bodies.
